Human & Horse Method

A warm welcome to the Human & Horse Academy! I am Greetje Hakvoort, and for as long as I can remember, my life has revolved around horses.

Whether you want to become an instructor, already are one, or work with horses as a hobby, my goal is to make horse training simple for everyone. The foundation of this simplicity lies in good communication between you and your horse. Together with our team, I ensure that your horse truly understands what you are asking of him.

At the Academy, we invite you to this transformation: of your horse, but certainly of yourself as well! Whatever your level, the trainers at Human & Horse will take you and your horse to the next level and ensure that you can continue independently. The training sessions at Human & Horse are easy and enjoyable.

The Human & Horse Method is a way of working in which the relationship between human and horse takes center stage. It is not focused on control or performance, but on contact, awareness, and clear communication. By slowing down and truly observing what is happening, space is created for insight and a partnership that feels right.

Our 4 training principles

Groundwork

Groundwork is all about communication and attunement. You learn to see and feel what is happening between you and the horse in the moment.

Lunging

Refining communication and aids from a distance. From a distance, it becomes clear how the horse reacts to your posture, energy, and aids.

Work in hand

Close to the horse, you work on refining communication, posture, and timing. The inside and outside reins provide direction and support.

Riding

Under the saddle, everything comes together. What you have previously built up in contact and attunement becomes tangibly in motion here.

Our teachers are more than just trainers. They are guides in your learning process. They help you observe, feel, and understand what happens in the interaction between human and horse, and how you can grow within it.
